A team from the UMMAT Faculty of Medicine, the UMMAT Primary Care Clinic, and the UMMAT Farma Pharmacy provided free health checkups to residents of Cemara Hamlet, West Lombok, as part of the celebrations marking the 46th anniversary of Muhammadiyah University of Mataram.

WEST LOMBOK Muhammadiyah University of Mataram (UMMAT) provided free health services to the residents of Cemara Hamlet, West Lombok, as part of a series of events marking UMMAT’s 46th anniversary. This initiative is a tangible expression of UMMAT’s social commitment to bringing health services closer to the community.

The free health services were provided as part of a series of activities organized by UMMAT’s leadership during a two-day Leadership Camp and Community Service event, held from June 15 to 16, 2026. The event also coincided with the Islamic New Year, 1 Muharram 1448 H, and was combined with a religious study session with the community at the Cemara Village Mosque.

Local residents seemed enthusiastic about participating in the free health services organized by the committee. This event provided residents with the opportunity to receive free health care, while also serving as a means of educating them on the importance of maintaining their health over the long term.

The Chair of the Committee for UMMAT’s 46th Anniversary, Syafruddin AR Baso, S.IP., M.H., stated that free health services are one way UMMAT serves the community. According to him, the anniversary celebration is not only a commemoration of the university’s age but also an opportunity to expand its impact.

“This free healthcare service is part of UMMAT’s effort to get closer to the community. Through the celebration of our 46th anniversary, we want to organize activities that not only strengthen our bonds but also provide direct benefits, particularly in the field of healthcare,” he said.

The Rector of UMMAT, Dr. H. Abdul Wahab, MA., stated that universities have a moral and social responsibility to help improve the quality of life for the community. According to him, health is one of the key aspects that requires collective attention.

“UMMAT aims to continue serving as a university that not only focuses on education but also makes a tangible contribution to the community. This free healthcare service is part of our commitment to spreading benefits and strengthening our social responsibility,” he said.

The head of Cemara Hamlet also expressed his appreciation to Muhammadiyah University of Mataram for organizing this free health service. He noted that this initiative is very helpful to the community, especially residents who need easy and nearby access to health care.

“We are very grateful to UMMAT for coming and providing free health services to the residents of Cemara Hamlet. Activities like this are very beneficial, and we hope they will continue in the future,” he said.

In addition to free health services, the series of events marking UMMAT’s 46th anniversary in Cemara Hamlet also included a religious gathering on 1 Muharram 1448 H, a community service event, the distribution of 200 food packages, and a gathering bringing together UMMAT’s leadership and the local community.

Through this initiative, UMMAT reaffirms its commitment as a Muhammadiyah university focused on education, da’wah, community service, and humanitarianism. The provision of free health services in Cemara Hamlet demonstrates that UMMAT’s 46th anniversary is not merely a ceremonial event, but also an opportunity to bring tangible benefits to the community.
